Big Live Show Analysis Talk/ Spoilers ofc
Ok so first things first Hilltop live confirms the theory that the third voice in the computers in TMP are in fact Jonah. These three voices are echoes of the echoes that are trapped between universes of Jon, Martin, and Jonah. I'm assuming because all three of their bodies got dragged into the portal at hilltop, they ended up in this inbetween place.
Martin and Jon accept the fact they are not in fact the real versions of themselves and only vague memories/echoes of them. They also accept they are trapped there forever(?). Martin is confirmed to be more of a lonely avatar and not an eye one.
Now of course to talk about Jonah. Jonah is only a disembodied voice in this inbetween place. He does have power here though. We only get one exchange directly between Jon and Jonah in the beginning that implies they have been adjusting to this situation for quite a while. (Jon does talk *about* Jonah quite a lot tho so yay<3)
Jonah in the live show is very... dramatic. I think you could argue that hes almost cartoony in his villainness. I wouldn't disagree, its quite played up and hes quite arrogant and over the top. HOWEVER, my theory brain immediately can find excuses for it. Firstly, Jonah no longer has his facade to hide behind, he can no longer pretend to be human or neutral to manipulate new people. So instead he leans into intimidation far more. He's also scared. He's not accepting that his current state is permanent. He's recently been *killed*. I think thats why Jonah feels so... out of character. At least I hope...
Another thing: We learn that people stuck in this gap in the universe(s) slowly start to leak their memories into the space which take the form of objects/locations. I believe this is why Jon says Jonah is 'warping' their appearances - not that he is actively exerting that control over the clothing, but that his memories are affecting the people trapped there. The reason i think this effects people so universally is just due to the fact Jonah has *so* many memories. He has much more to spread around and probably a stronger influence because of that
(me praying jonny didnt forget how to write jonah and that all this is for a reason...)
I am very excited for More Jonah but also it does make me feel cautious about his future characterization. protocol already was so... fanon (derigatory). paired with s5 Jonah... I am not hopeful at all 🥹 but also hell yeah to Jon talking about Jonah :D
on my hands and knees begging jonny to remember jonah is a human being with nuance and not a one dimensional evil guy
@two-pupils he can't hear us! he has airpods in /j. but seriously I just don't understand this lack of willingness to engage with your own character outside of the fandom created charicature
WHAT is happening
liking it for after I see it!
